how to; fashion photography

Taking fashion photographs for model portfolios, stories or personal use can be an exhilarating experience for anyone who loves photography. Whether your a professional or amateur there is always careful planning and an amount of consideration to take into account beforehand. For instance, the location where the photo shoot will take place and the type of lighting used, will reflect the mood you wish to create in your photographs. Styling, hair, make up and clothing all play a part in the story telling of the final imagery. The photographer will assess the elements that are of focus and look at the best way to light the subject to show this. Eg: textured clothing or bold shaped elements may be photographed using soft light or shadows to showcase the outlined shape or to give the audience a feel for the fabric.

Here are some of my own personal images I have photographed over the years using different professional lighting and to create my own story.
